Book and Reading Studies in Mainz
Books open up the world and have done so for centuries in the many languages of this world. Gutenberg's invention of movable-type printing in Mainz in 1455 brought books and prints to the wider world. Today, books in combination with other media are part of our everyday life, especially in Mainz, the city of ZDF and SWR in the middle of the metropolitan region of Mainz, Wiesbaden as well as Frankfurt am Main with its many publishing houses, the Frankfurt Book Fair, the German Publishers and Booksellers Association and the German National Library.
