On closer inspection, books have always been and continue to be more than just printed letters. They were sung and illustrated, recited, then translated into radio plays and filmed. Today, it only takes a licence agreement to turn a book into a Netflix series. The disruption caused by artificial intelligence fits into this picture, but it is fundamentally shifting roles, institutions and formats in the world of books once again. The seminar analyses and discusses the latest AI developments in detail, the consequences and changes for books and the book market resulting from the new media possibilities, how media formats influence each other and how reading will change. The seminar thus combines practical and theoretical challenges for the book world in the 21st century.Dates
