Contents
The lecture provides an overview of a diverse, inter- and transdisciplinary field of research. After a fundamental examination of the reading process and its prerequisites, an arc is drawn from historical to current reading and reader research. Findings on the (non-)acquisition of reading skills are presented. Motivations for turning to different reading materials and reading are scrutinized, relevant theories and methodological approaches are presented. Affective, cognitive and social effects of reading are discussed - also in comparison to other media. Different ways of presenting texts (analog and digital) are taken into account, respectively.The lecture will be held in German.
