"Where there is no travel, there is no need for travel guides", Grit Müller, head of travel publishing at Gräfe und Unzer (https://www.boersenblatt.net/archiv/1838848.html) was quoted in the Börsenblatt in March 2020. And as a result, the "travel" segment has suffered extreme sales losses due to the pandemic. The travel industry is optimistic again for 2023 and thus the signs for the travel book market are good again. But will everything soon be back to normal? The seminar first provides an overview of the travel market segment in the German-language book market, takes a look at the most important players and then focuses on the processes of change to which publications in this field are subject. Changes in content such as new travel trends (slow travel) are discussed as well as sustainability in the production of travel guides and the topic of digitalisation.Dates
