Romanian researcher as a guest at the Mainz Book Institute

Dr. Bogdan Popa, historian at the Nicolae Iorga Institute of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, is a guest of the Gutenberg Institute in april. His research focuses on the history of publishing in modern Romania.

Dr. Popa's research stay takes place in the context of the 2021/2022 "Ştefan-Odobleja" Fellowship at New Europe College, Bucharest. With his research project Pathways of Knowledge Exchange: The Dissemination of Romanian Publications in Europe (second half of the 19th Century - until the First World War), Bogdan Popa is investigating the European networks of Romanian publishers and authors. Thanks to the rich specialized library and the Mainz publishing house archive, he reconstructs the important role of the publishing houses Otto Harrassowitz and Julius Friedländer for the Romanian European and world dissemination of Romanian scientific publications at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
